UK Innovator visa
UK has a points-based 4 tier visa system (previously 5 tier visa system) is an immigration pathway for migrants. However, changes are made due to Brexit when UK will eventually leave. Like example, the Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa has been changed with the UK Innovator visa.
This system separates candidates into four ‘tiers’. You need to pass a test with points in order to be qualified. You must have a points score above the minimum threshold in order to be successful. The minimum number of points required is different for each tier.
UK Tier Points-Based Visa System
Tier 1 Visa:
This visa is for the high-value migrants and covers entry of investors in the UK.
Tier 2 Visa:
This category is for ‘skilled workers’ with a job offer in the UK. It can be skilled worker working for an international company.
Tier 3 Visa:
This visa no longer exists.
Tier 4Visa:
This category is for international students who wish to study in the UK. Applicants must have secured admission in a UK educational establishment before they can apply.
Tier 5 Visa:
This category is for temporary worker including creative and sporting, charity, religious workers, and the youth mobility scheme.
It is stated that since 29 March 2019 the Tier 1 entrepreneur visa scheme is changed to UK Innovator visa scheme and since 6 July 2019 the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Scheme is changed to Start-Up visa scheme. A tier 1 investor can gain entry by investing £2 million. In addition, a few people can come under the Global Talent visa category which replaced the previous Tier 1 exceptional talent visa category.
Tier 1 Visa categories
- Tier 1 Investor visa For candidates with £2,000,000 available to invest.
- Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa has been changed to the UK Innovator visa scheme, for candidates with at least £50,000 to invest in UK
- Tier 1 Exceptional Talent is changed to the Global Talent visa scheme. For people endorsed by a designated body as a leader or emerging leader in different fields.
- Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur has been changed to the Start-Up visa
Family members (dependents)
You can bring your family members, but you must show that you have enough funds to provide for them. They can later apply under family visa.
The Tier 2 visa grants skill worker to gain entry in UK on a long term time to fill a skilled job vacancy.The occupation ( job ) needs to be on the Tier 2 occupation list the Codes of Practice for Skilled Workers. Tier 2 visa applicants should have a Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship from an employer with a Tier 2 sponsor licence.
Innovator Program
For an applicant to apply for startup/ Innovator visa, the applicant must get endorsement from a verified endorsing body.
You can get an endorsement from an approved endorsing body Innovator International Geminus
To obtain endorsement from Geminus, is as follows
- First, you need to submit an Executive Summary This will be reviewed by Geminus. After this you will be invited to submit a full business plan Guidance.
- Submit a Business Plan Your plan will be assessed against each strict criteria of innovation, scalability and viability Those who score highly will be offered a proposal to join the program from a scale of 1 to 10 Geminus will consider a skill score of 3 to 6 for startup and 6 to 8 for innovator
- Feedback and Proposal Geminus will provide feedback detailing the support they believe you require and commercial terms
- Endorsement Once your review is successful, you will be issued an endorsement letter and contract of engagement This process takes 3 to 5 working days
- Support Package Geminus will provide one to one support by a dedicated client manager for strategic planning, skill development, mentoring and monitoring and monthly masterclasses to achieve your business goals
- Once you have obtained your endorsement, an application for a startup or innovator visa can be submitted
- Tier 2 (General) visa For those skill workers who have a job offer and a certificate of sponsorship from a UK employer with a valid Tier 2 sponsorship licence. Limited to only about 20,700 job placements in each year.
- Tier 2 (Intra-Company Transfer) visa For those skill workers of multinational companies who are being transferred to the business’s UK branch. The candidate must have a valid certificate of sponsorship from their employer. There are two sub-categories:
- Long term staff
- Graduate trainee
- Tier 2 (Minister of Religion) visa For workers who’ve been offered a job within a religious community organisation in the UK.
- Tier 2 (Sportsperson) visa For sportspeople and coaches. The applicant must be recognized and be endorsed by their sport’s governing body.
General visa Tier 2
This visa is the main pathway for skill workers wanting to come to UK for work and the salary should be at least £20,800 per annum for new applicants and £30,000 for experienced workers. To be able to apply for this visa you should posses a job offers and a certificate of sponsorship from a UK employer who has a valid Tier 2 sponsor licence. Many more occupations have been added to the Shortage Occupation List hence more opportunities are being provided.
Intra-company Transfer visa Tier 2
This category allows multinational companies to transfer workers from their overseas operations to a UK branch .In addition there is no need to do the resident labour market test and no English language requirement to for applicants who are based outside the UK.
Intra-Company Transfer visa Sub-categories Tier 2
- Long term staff: For workers who will come to UK for a work that will last for more than 1 year. The workers coming abroad must be working for the company for at least more than a year. The length of stay depends on the amount of salary, but the minimum amount is 41,500 pounds.
- Graduate trainee for workers who have recently graduated on a degree level or above qualification and will work in UK to fill a position of a graduate trainee program like a specialist researcher or IT role. The worker applying must have been employed by the company for at least 3 months. The length of stay is up to 1 year with a minimum salary of 23,000 pounds.
Sportsperson Visa Tier 2
This visa is for those high-top level athletes and sportspeople that are being endorsed by their sport’s governing body and are coming to UK for work and its sports development. The endorsing body must have a valid Tier 2 license. The worker can stay up to 3 years which can be extended.
This visa gives people from outside Europe the opportunity to enter the UK as a student. To apply for a Tier 4 student visa, you need to confirm your admission to a UK educational institution with a valid Tier 4 sponsorship permit.
For 4 visa students, in this case the student should spend 15 hours per week on the subject, and the student must meet his / her living and study costs. The loan is available to pay student tuition fees at UK universities.
- Tier 4 (General) is a student visa for students aged 18+ and has been offered a scholarship to a UK educational institution. Courses covered by this visa include degree and A degree courses. While studying, some students may work 20 hours a week and work full time during the holidays. But the 2015 change means that students may no longer work while studying.
- Tier 4 (child) visa for students under the age of 18 given courses in UK educational institutions and a valid Tier 4 sponsorship license.
Short Course
- Short term study visa for those students granted temporary courses in the UK for six months, or 11 months (for 18+ students)
4 strong Visa Family Members
Students can bring family members with them. Tier 4 (General) visas allow family members to apply to come to the UK with a visa.
Terms:
- Studying for a doctorate or a UK degree for at least one year or so
- Sponsored by the UK government for a process lasting longer than 6 months or
- Register with the Doctorate Extension Scheme
Charity Worker visa
This visa is for those workers who wants to come in UK in order to do some charity work for their organization. The work they intend to so must be related to the organization work. To apply, the candidate should have a valid Tier 5 certificate of sponsorship from a licensed Tier 5 sponsor charity.

Creative and Sporting
This visa category is for the highly skilled sportsperson and creative persons who wants to come in UK in order to improve UK in the respective fields they come in.
To apply the applicant must have a valid Tier 5 certificate of sponsorship from a licensed Tier 5 sponsor. The sponsoring body must have endorsement from the governing body for your field and the governing body must be recognised by the UK Home Office.
Length of stay
Up to 2 years with extensions.
Government Authorized Exchange visa
This visa is for those applicants who wants to come to UK for various work experience, training, and research activities in order to share knowledge, experience and best practice.The applicants may work in a second job for up to 20 hours per week. The applicant must have a valid Tier 5 certificate of sponsorship from a licensed Tier 5 sponsor organisation.
Length of stay
1 year for those doing work experience, and 2 years for those doing research, training, or studying on an Overseas Government Language Program.
International Agreement visa
This visa is for applicants coming to UK under contract to do work which covered under international law. To apply,you must have a valid Tier 5 certificate of sponsorship from a licensed Tier 5 sponsor organisation. Work covered by this visa includes:
- the General Agreement on Trade in Services
- employees of overseas governments and international organisations
- private servants in diplomatic households.
Length of stay
Up to 2 years with extensions.
Religious Workers
This visa category is for the religious worker wanting to work in UK.
For the applicant to apply under this category should have a valid Tier 5 certificate of sponsorship from a licensed Tier 5 sponsor religious organisation.
Length of stay
Up to 2 years with extensions.
Youth Mobility Scheme
Visas for 18 – 30 year old’s from several countries who wish to stay and work in the UK for up to 2 years.
Documents are required
- Current passport
- Passport photos
Prove that they can meet maintenance fees such as bank statements
- A valid TB diagnostic document when you apply
The need for the English language
Tier 5 visa holders are required to complete an English test if they are not from an English-speaking country or have not completed any degree in English medium.
As of 29 March 2019 the UK Tier 1 UK visa category is no longer available for new applicants. Entrepreneurs can come under the UK’s new visa scheme. Businesses and business owners should consider whether they may be subject to a Tier 2 sponsorship scheme or a representative of an overseas business or a Turkish business visa.

UK business visas
The following categories of business visas are becoming increasingly important. It looks like most UK visa categories will no longer be part of the UK Tier visa program.
The UK Innovator visa is for experienced entrepreneurs coming to the UK to establish a new and viable business in the UK. You also need to have a compromise that can make it more difficult in the first Tier 1 Enterprise visa category. One advantage compared to the old Tier 1 Enterpriseur visa program is that the investment requirement is now $ 50,000, while in the past the majority was $ 200,000.
The UK Start Up visa will replace the Tier 1 Graduate Enterpriseur visa scheme and is for less experienced business people. This visa program replaces the Tier 1 Graduate Enterpriseur visa scheme.
State Attorney for overseas business visa People who come to the UK to form the UK’s first branch or subsidiary companies. The representative must be a senior employee of an overseas company, but must not be a major shareholder. The UK business must be wholly owned by an overseas company. The visa also allows long-term overseas journalists to enter the UK. This is a long-term visa that can lead to leaving Indefinite to Resain in the UK.
Turkish Business visa Turkish nationals come to the UK to start a new business or to help run an existing business. Businesses on the visa cannot work in another job in the UK. This is a long-term visa that can lead to Endefrance to Resain in the UK.
